Chery Malaysia lends 50 vehicles to Putra Heights fire victims

KUALA LUMPUR: A major gas inferno incident occurred on April 1, 2025, at PETRONAS Gas Berhad, in Putra Heights, Selangor, displacing families and disrupting the daily lives of those in the area. Soon after knowing the mobility difficulties faced by the fire victims, Chery Corporate Malaysia stepped up to extend its support.

Chery offers a total of 50 vehicles to assist affected families, who were impacted by the burst gas pipe. Their properties, including cars, were destroyed by the fire.

The company’s extensive fleet of vehicles helps them navigate essential daily activities such as commuting, attending medical appointments, and caring for their families. These vehicles are designed with advanced safety features and reliability.
Collaboration with authorities
For the smooth coordination of the relief programme, Chery Corporate Malaysia is working closely with the offices of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han, and the local authorities who are overseeing the efforts.

Temporary assistance for long-term solutions
The programme will run for a period of time, allowing impacted families time to manage permanent mobility solutions.
Selangor state executive councillor Ng Sze Han confirmed that “Chery Malaysia agreed to supply 50 cars to the victims in need for one month.”
"It will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and applications can be made through my office or the office of Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan," he said. The vehicles would be supplied immediately after the selection process to ensure they go to those most in need.
“While nothing can truly ease the pain and loss of homes, vehicles, and daily stability, we want you to know that you are not alone. Through our Emergency Vehicle Program, we hope to offer even the smallest relief, a helping hand in this time of great need,” says Chery.
