Chery exports close to 20,000 vehicles in February

Chery is currently doing very well in the South American region, namely in Brazil and ChileHaving sold 60,419 vehicles worldwide in the month of February, Chery said that the number is an increase of 26.4% year-on-year versus 2021.
Out of the lot, 19,997 units were actually sold outside China, which translates to a 9.3% increase compared to 2021.
Including January, Chery has sold a total of 147,459 vehicles globally which is an increase of 17.3% year-on-year.
According to Chery, the total also includes exports sales of 46,897 vehicles which is a 33.9% increase year-on-year.
The Chinese manufacturer’s feat is nothing short of impressive as the rapid sales growth was achieved amidst the global chip shortage.
Outside China, the market in which Chery is performing the best is in Brazil, where the brand currently stands among the top 10 brands in the passenger car segment.
Having sold 3,241 vehicles in Brazil in February, Chery’s year-to-date sales figure stands at 6,372 units, which accounts for 3.36% of the Brazilian passenger car market.
The models that are doing well in South America include the Chery Arrizo 6 Pro which came out fourth in the car segment with a 5.35% market share, and also the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro which was launched in February.
Besides Brazil, In Chile, Chery’s February also increased drastically in Chile, where the brand’s market sales has increased to 7.7%.
Thanks to the increase in sales, Chery currently ranks second among all automotive brands in Chile, with its year-to-date sales up by 114% year-on-year.
One of the biggest contributing factors to this success is the Chery Tiggo 2 range which managed to maintain its top position in the SUV segment in terms of sales.
There are now over 10 million Chery users globally, including 2 million users outside China.
Aiming to export a total of 400,000 vehicles this year, Chery currently has six research and development (R&D) bases, 10 overseas manufacturing plants, and more than 1,500 sales and service outlets around the world including Malaysia.
Capable of producing 200,000 vehicles a year for the overseas market, Chery has been China’s top passenger car exporter for 19 consecutive years now.
The brand is also making a comeback in Malaysia as its social media presence and marketing activities have increased significantly recently. New models are also slated to make their Malaysian debut in the near future.
