Check out the new Toyota electric van, the Proace City Electric
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota Proace City Electric is an all-electric version of 2019 revealed Proace City van. The vehicle is scheduled to go on sale by the end of this year in Europe where it will be offered in two variants - standard and long-wheelbase. The difference between the two trims being limited to dimensions, the former measures 4,403 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm; the latter’s length and wheelbase read 4,735 mm and 2,975 mm, respectively.
Once launched customers can order the Proace City Electric as either a panel van or people carrier. The latter is called the Verso with a five or seven-seat layout. Furthermore, there is also a Crew Cab version (based on the long-wheelbase version) with a five-seat layout on offer.
All the Toyota Proace City Electric variants source power from a front-mounted electric motor generating maximum power of 136 PS and a peak torque of 260 Nm. On the performance front, the van can cover the century sprint in between 11.2 and 11.7 seconds and can attain a top speed of 135 kmph.
It is to be noted that the level of performance figure is only available via the Power mode. The Proace City Electric comes with two more modes - Normal and Eco; in both cases, the e-motor’s output will be reduced to converse power.
Speaking of the electric motor, it is coupled with a 50-kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a targeted driving range of between 260 and 280 km on a full charge (WLTP).
The Proace City Electric comes with 800 kg (standard) and 750 kg (long-wheelbase) of payload and 750 kg of towing capacity.
As for the Proace City Electric commercial version, it is being offered in two trims - Base and Comfort. While the passenger carrier will be available in four options - Shuttle, Combi, Family, and Family+. What’s common is the inclusion of the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assist systems that include lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and more.
