Check out the butch-looking 2020 Toyota Fortuner TRD trim
KUALA LUMPUR: A lot has been happening on the Toyota Fortuner front over the past few months. First, the 2020 facelift version got revealed in Thailand, followed by the announcement of the new accessories, then came the Australian debut and last we heard the new model achieved a 5-star safety rating by ASEAN NCAP. But wait, the trail of events doesn't seem to get over, as we now hear that Fortuner TRD Sportivo trim has benefited from an update.
The said update is limited to the Indonesian market and is said to be more out there in terms of looks compared to the standard Fortuner. Let's now discuss the Fortuner TRD updates, starting from the exterior. At the front, we see a large, bold grille with dark accents, a red stripe, and a TRD badge. It is followed by a pair of redesigned LED headlamps with sleek LED DRLs. The new front bumper also gets dark accents like the grille and houses a revised fog lamp casing with dark lighting units. Moving to the side profile of the SUV, we see aggressive 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and dark ORVMs. The backside flaunts, LED taillamps, chrome black tailgate garnish, and a new bumper.
The cabin almost feels the same as the recently facelifted Fortuner, with the only difference being the addition of a rear entertainment unit. Included in the list of features are:
- 9-inch touch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay
- 4.2-inch multi-information driver's display
- Powered front seats
- Anti-glare mirror
- Wireless charging
- Connected car technology
- Activated kick door
As for the Fortuner TRD engine configuration, it is powered by a 2.4-litre diesel powerplant that churns out 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque. The 2020 Fortuner facelift model launched in Thailand and Australia, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel mill pushing out a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm.
The car's safety kit includes seven airbags, a traction control system, hill start assist, and vehicle stability control.
We hope Toyota Malaysia also brings us the facelifted Fortuner soon and a TRD trim would only add to the joy.
