Check out Ferrari F42 render by Paul Breshke
KUALA LUMPUR: Remember Ferrari F40? The V8-powered coupe considered the best supercar ever produced. It was discontinued in 1992 that surely marked the end of an era, and it was quickly replaced by the F50 in 1995 and the Enzo in 2002. However, there’s one artist who wants to bring the iconic F40 back and that too in the form of a modern supercar.
Dubbed as the Ferrari F42, it took artist Paul Breshke seven months to create the virtual descendant of Ferrari F40. The concept draws inspiration from many Ferrari models apart from the iconic F40. Its design displays slim LED headlights, carbon fiber trim pieces, multiple vents, and a lower diffuser with body-colour accents.
Through an email, Breshke said, “The first thought on Ferrari F42 was to create a new version of F40. But each idea that I tested didn’t look good enough. That’s why I changed my mind and went in another direction, which was creating my own version of the Ferrari look inspired by a few models of the brand.”
In the concepts’ DNA is a visible nod of the F40 like the wild rear wing. Even the directional wheels appear as futuristic F40 spoke. Also, we spot ties of modern cars like the F8 Tributo and P80/C race car, particularly in features like pointed nose piece and vented hood. The side profile of the concept shares a few characteristics with icons like the Enzo and LaFerrari.
With Ferrari having no plans to bring the F40 nameplate back to life, this is the closest we can get to its modern version. However, the automaker promises a new hypercar in 2022, two new sports cars in 2020, and Purosangue SUV in 2021, each bolstering Ferrari’s already impressive fleet. As for the modern take on the F40, all we can do is hope and dream.
