ChatGPT tells us why there is no Made-in-Malaysia sports car yet
For auto enthusiasts, a sports car is the best thing that the industry has to offer. From the edgy design language to high-performance figures, sports cars have dominated the hearts of many. And how can one miss the loud, intriguing sound they make which at times sounds no less than a lion’s roar. Don’t you think so?
Well, the Malaysian market is not unaware of the beauty which is the Sports Cars. The list includes models from top automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz AMG, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Porsche, Maserati, Jaguar, McLaren, and Audi. But is this long list of names if we don't find any Malaysia-born auto brand, which brings us to the question, why is there no Made-in-Malaysia sports car?Taking advantage of technology, we thought of asking the same question from ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot providing detailed responses and articulate answers across several domains.
As per ChatGPT, there are a few reasons why there is no Made-in-Malaysia sports car yet, which goes as follows -
- Firstly, the country’s primary focus is on producing small cars and motorcycles for both domestic and export markets, rather than manufacturing high-performance cars. Also, the development of a sports car requires resources like capital investment, technical expertise, and a strong automotive ecosystem. While Malaysia's auto sector is quite developed there are still some gaps to be filled.
- Currently, the sports car market is dominated by big players like Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and BMW, to name a few. Thus, making the sports car market highly competitive and difficult for a new domestic player to enter the arena. It would require a substantial amount of investment in R&D, marketing, and distribution, among other things.
- Lastly, demand plays an important role in a new brand entering the market from scratch and making it big. Talking specifically about the Malaysian market there is no such demand for high-performance sports cars. As the purchase decision involves a lot of money and there is also practicality. Sports cars not only require specific kinds of roads but also eat up a lot of fuel.
Going through these points, we can’t help but agree with ChatGPT’s argument. It is only fair to say that the Malaysian automotive industry is still in the developing phase and in due time there will be demand for sports cars, fulfilled by local brands.
Until then let’s enjoy the amazing sports car we get from high-end auto manufacturers.
