BYD launches affordable Seal Dynamic variant in Malaysia - RM164k, 204PS/310Nm, 510km range
KUALA LUMPUR: BYD is set to further solidify its presence in Malaysia’s burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the new entry-level BYD Seal Dynamic variant. This follows the remarkable success of the BYD Seal, which has become the best-selling EV in the country, with 2,062 units sold between January and July 2024, according to data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Entry-Level BYD Seal Dynamic: What to Expect
The new Seal Dynamic variant joins the existing Premium and Performance models but at a more affordable price point. Under the hood, it houses a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor that delivers 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque, slightly lower than the Premium variant’s 313 PS and 360 Nm output. Although the performance is lesser in the Dynamic, It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds which is still fast.
The Dynamic model also features the smallest 61.4 kWh LFP battery, offering a respectable WLTP-claimed driving range of up to 510 km(NEDC), making it suitable for urban commutes and long-distance travel.
In comparison, the Premium and Performance models come equipped with a larger 82.5 kWh battery, boasting a range of 650 km and 580 km, respectively.
The other dumb down in spec to make the the BYD Seal Dynamic more affordable is the offering of a slower DC Fast charging speed. The Dynamic The DC Charging rate of the Dynamic is rated at 110kw. In comparison the Premium and Performance features a 150kw fast charging speed.
Simplified Features for a Lower Price
While the Seal Dynamic offers a slightly lower spec when it comes to its drivetrain, it still retains essential features for a modern EV experience. The only way you can tell between it and the Premium variant is through the size of the wheels, with the Dynamic being equipped with 18" wheels. The rest of the exterior looks the same.
Luxurious bits of kit like a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, 360-degree camera, and a Dynaudio 12-speaker sound system is also part of the entry-level model. Buyers can also still expect a comprehensive ADAS safety suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, as well as nine airbags.
