BMW XM pre-bookings to open in Malaysia soon, est. price announced
KUALA LUMPUR: Last month, BMW Motorsport division introduced its first-ever electrified SUV, the XM, in the global market. And now after just two weeks, the latest BMW M model is getting ready to hit the local roads. Yes, that’s right. BMW Malaysia will start accepting the pre-bookings for the SUV from October 20.

While the SUV is currently in the last leg of development, the BMW XM local arrival is not expected anytime soon. The SUV’s production will start at BMW's Spartanburg plant in the US in December.

- The SUV is equipped with a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbocharged plug-in hybrid drivetrain combined with an e-motor and 25.7-kWh battery.
- While the engine generates 490 PS of maximum power and 650 Nm of peak torque, the electric motor adds 197 PS and 280 Nm to the total output, making it 653 PS and 800 Nm
- Sending power to the wheels is an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to run from zero to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds. The electronically-limited top speed of the SUV is rated at 270 kmph.
- Also part of the kit are M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, an electronic locking rear differential, adaptive suspension, rear-wheel steering, and high-performance brake discs
- Against the measuring tape, the XM measures 5110 mm in length, 1755 mm in height, 2005 mm in width, and spans a wheelbase of 3105 mm
- Design-wise, the exterior looks identical to the earlier revealed concept form with the front fascia dominated by the largest-ever BMW's signature kidney grilles. These are illuminated with LED stripes and edged by a split headlight setup
- Among the key interior inclusions are a 14.9-inch infotainment display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, XM-special M leather steering wheel, multi contour front seats, Harman Kardon surround sound system and four-zone climate control
- Part of the SUV’s ADAS pack are distance control, automatic speed limit assist, lane change assistant, steering and lane control assistant, lane keeping assistant, front/rear cross traffic warning, evasion assistant, rear collision prevention, exit emergency stop assistant, and more
After launch, the 2023 BMW XM will be competing against the Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus.
