BMW X6 xDrive35i CKD launched in Malaysia at RM667k

Kuala Lumpur: BMW Group Malaysia has just introduced the BMW X6 xDrive35i at their newly renovated headquarters in Cyberjaya. The xDrive35i, which is a sports activity coupe will be locally assembled at BMW's Assembly Facilities plant in Kulim, Kedah.

The completely knocked down BMW X6 xDrive35i model represents the marques ninth model to join the portfolio of the company's locally assembled vehicles. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Alan Harris, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The introduction of the locally assembled BMW X6 marks the 9th model to join the portfolio of BMW Group Malaysia’s locally assembled vehicles. This is further testament to the longstanding investment and commitment we have here in Malaysia.”

The major difference this time round is the significantly lower price tag with the CBU Variant, which is priced for RM719k. The pricing for CKD BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is kept RM666,888 (on-the-road price with insurance) that makes an overall drop in the price of about RM52,000.

Like its imported sibling, the CKD X6 will be offered in xDrive35i version with M Sport package, consisting of more aggressive front and rear bumper design and side skirts. Up front, the BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport features the signature BMW kidney grille, flanked by a pair of Adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lights, both which comes standard.

At the rear side of the car, Air Breather side vents are to be found by the front wheel arch. The M Aerodynamics Package also includes 20-inch M double spoke light alloy wheels with the tyre size measuring 275/50 R20 for the front and 315/35 R20 for the rear. Also, Adaptive M Suspension with pneumatic rear suspension is featured as standard, as is a panoramic glass sunroof.

The cockpit of the CKD X6 xDrive35i is adorned by Dakota leather upholstery with a choice of three color schemes - Black, Coral Red and Cognac. The locally-assembled X6 also features four-zone air conditioning and exclusive ambient lighting at shoulder height. It leads to an organic feel with the positioning of the lights at roughly shoulder height.

X6 gets an M Sport multifunction steering wheel, shift paddles, Sport mode selector lever and M door sills. The M Sport package also adds on electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function for the front seats, M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and paddle shifters as well as Sport gear selector lever.

The cockpit benefits from Bimmer’s hallmark driver centric orientation and a 10.25-inch centre display screen with BMW Mobile Apps and Navigation system. Through the BMW app, you can integrate smartphone which gives access to Facebook, Twitter and other social medias. A 600W Harman Kardon surround sound system with 16 speakers and USB, Bluetooth and AUX connectivity is also featured as standard.

Powering the locally assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M-Sport is a turbocharged 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine with 306 HP at 6,400 rpm and torque output of about 400 Nm at 1,200 to 5,000 rpm. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission sends all that grunt to all four corners via the xDrive all-wheel drive system. The complete mechanism allows the new X6 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h. The X6 can deliver an average fuel consumption of just 8.6 litre/100km while CO2 emission of 200 g/km. With ECO Pro mode selected, a coasting function is enabled.

Courtesy of the BMW ConnectedDrive pack, the X6 features a high-definition HUD (heads-up-display) which means you don’t have to avert your gaze away from the road. Another unique drive assistance system in the locally assembled X6 is Surround View 360; a feature granting all-round visibility when parking or manoeuvring in and around tight spaces. Other standard safety features are six airbags, Isofix mounted at the rear, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), ABS, ASC, CBC and DTC, Lane Departure Warning with Approach Warning, Pedestrian Collision Warning and Park Distance Control.

The new, CKD BMW X6 xDrive35i is available in four different color schemes - Alpine White, Flamenco Red, Carbon Black and Space Grey. It comes bundled together with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program.
