BMW X5 coming soon to Malaysia; previewed ahead of its launch

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia has previewed the G05 X5 ahead of its scheduled August launch. The SUV made its global debut almost a year ago, and now it’s our turn to grab this stylish and powerful car.

First things first, the G05 BMW X5 will be offered in only one trim option, the xDrive40i M Sport, which according to the reports will retail for around RM 640,000 (on the road without insurance). And as with all the BMW cars, this one will also come with a two-year tyre warranty, five-year free scheduled service package, and five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

Under the hood rests a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine that can churn out a maximum power of 340 hp at 5,500 to 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 450 Nm at 1,500 to 5,200 rpm. The mill is paired to a ZF’s ubiquitous 8-speed sport automatic gearbox, also present is an all-wheel-drive system with rear differential lock. On the performance front, the car can touch 100 kmph mark in 5.5 seconds and displays a combined fuel economy of 10.87 kmpl.

On the design front, the car now looks much sportier than its predecessor and its angular exterior seems to be inspired from the X3. At the front, is present a large double kidney grille, and trapezoidal adaptive LED headlights with DRLs. The side profile gets a large Air Breather vents, plus there is prominent kin towards the rear. The new X5 rides on 20-inch Style 740 M 10-spoke alloy wheels and they hide the M Sport brakes with blue calipers. The rear now features slimmer LED taillights with large light guides.

Stepping inside you’ll find BMW Live Cockpit Professional infotainment system of which are a part of new Operating System 7.0 and a 12.3-inch display. The said system can be easily controlled via the iDrive controller or gesture control. Also, part of the deal is an advanced voice control system, Intelligent Personal Assistant, Sensatec faux leather-wrapped dashboard, black headlining, and Vernasca leather upholstery.

The BMW X5 gets the brand Driving Assistant pack that includes safety gears like Lane Change Warning, Parking Assistant, collision warning with brake intervention, rear collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, rear crossing traffic warning, and Lane Change Warning.

Lastly, the SUV will be available in four exterior color options - Phytonic Blue, Mineral White, Arctic Grey, and Black Sapphire.
