BMW X4 introduced in Malaysia, check out the details
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW first showcased the G02 X4 in Malaysia last year on 14th Feb, and now the car has finally landed in the country. The good news comes on the same day BMW showcased the G05 X5 and X2 locally. Coming back to the car in question, it is offered in only one variant option in the country, xDrive30i M Sport.
Priced at RM 380,000, the second-gen X4 is nothing but the coupe version of the G01 X3. This price includes BMW Tyre Warranty programme, a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, and free scheduled service program.
At the front, the car gets adaptive large aggressive looking kidney grills, LED headlights, LED DRL, and M-Sport front bumper with horizontal LED fog lamps. The vehicle also showcases a few outer parts covered in BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line and body-colored plastic cladding. The low-slung roofline is the most recognizable exterior element of the car and helps locate the vehicle instantly. The rear gets slim 3D LED taillights, twin tailpipes, and bumper-mounted number plate. The car rides on 20-inch double-spoke wheels wrapped in 245/45 Pirelli P Zero tyres at the front and 275/40 at the rear. Also, M Aerodynamic package comes as a standard offering.
On the dimensions front, the new X4 is bigger than its predecessor. The car now measures 4,752 mm in length (81 mm +), 1,918 mm in width (37 mm +), and 1,621 mm (3 mm less). The wheelbase, however, is 52 mm longer at 2,864 mm.
The cabin, as expected, is fitted with a number of fantastic equipment. Included in the list is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 3-spoke slimmer M Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, 600 watt 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, and a 10.25-inch BMW Navigation system with built-in hard drive unit. Part of the cars standard kit are powered sports seats wrapped in Vernasca leather, three-zone automatic climate control, Galvanic embellishers for controls, M door sills, “aluminium rhombic” trimmings, and an anthracite headliner.
Powering the second-generation X4 is a B48 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill generating 252 hp of power at 5,200 rpm along with a peak torque of 350 Nm between 1,450 to 4,800 rpm. The power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. With this tuning, the car can cover 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.3 seconds.
The safety package like the cabin equipment kit is impressive, however, autonomous emergency braking is still missing. Part of the package are features like six airbags, rear view camera, Cornering Brake Control, two Isofix mounts for the outer rear seats, cruise control with brake function, Dynamic Brake Control, and parking assistant.
The BMW X4 xDrive30i is a locally-assembled unit that is cheaper than its direct competitor, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe. Buyers can pick the car in following shades - Phytonic Blue. Alpine White, Flamenco Red, and Carbon Black.
