BMW Teases AirTouch Through its Vision Car Concept
Kuala Lumpur: BMW is all set to show off its new 'Vision Car' concept at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This concept may give a preview of the next-generation cabin which can be featured in future cars. BMW is always trying to integrate new technologies into its cars and one such feature is AirTouch. This feature uses a number of sensors which are integrated into the dashboard and help the front passengers to control the display using hand gestures and motions. Further, any action can be confirmed by hitting the AirTouch button which is integrated on steering wheel and passenger side door panel. Because of this technology, user do not have to touch the screen to operate it.
Although the hand gesture control is also featured in BMW 7 series but AirTouch feature is yet to make a debut. Talking about AirTouch, it was designed keeping in mind the autonomous driving. That is why it is less complicated and the number of steps are also reduced to make a particular selection. AirTouch is intelligent enough to recognize what is required next and displays the information accordingly. Moreover, this system is more of driver-centric and allows driver to focus on road without looking out for control options enhancing the overall ergonomics of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz would be launching its new E-Class at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show which would also be featuring a next-generation cabin.
