BMW reveals the first official image of the i4 electric coupe

KUALA LUMPUR: The BMW i4 is one of the most anticipated electric cars of the year. For months now, we have been seeing its teaser images and spy shots, along with making assumptions about its features, performance, and more. Now, the German automaker has finally revealed the fully-electric coupe's first official image and we must say it doesn't disappoint us at all.

The i4 is essentially the fully-electric version of the upcoming 4 Series Gran Coupe. And the images released reveal a lot about its design language. At the front, it sports a massive, full-height kidney grille with a trapezoidal centre opening, slim-vertical air curtains inlets. The grille is mostly closed and features a mix of raised-scalloped dashes. One can also clearly see the i logo.

Coming to the side profile, the electric sedan features the usual sweeping roofline, six-window glasshouse, and C-pillar Hoffmeister kink. However, unique to the electric sedan are flush door handles, Air Breather vents, and hockey stick side graphic finished in the brand's i blue tone. The flat-faced 19-inch alloy wheels are known to enhance the car's aerodynamic efficiency and are equally fun to look at.

The rear features slim, inverted, L-shaped taillights. However, what helps distinguish it from the other 4 Series cars is the large rear diffuser and vertical vents on either side of the bumper.

What about the i4 interior?

Though BMW has not revealed the i4 electric coupe's interior yet, however, we expect it to be similar to the 4 Series. What we do know for sure is that it will be offered in several configurations. It also recorded a range of 590 km on the WLTP cycle.

On the power front, the BMW i4 is said to churn out a maximum power of 530 PS, which is more than the range-topping M4 Competition makes. It will cover 1000 kmph round in just 4 seconds.
