BMW recalls 324,000 cars in Europe with faulty engines
KUALA LUMPUR: Engine catching fire is a very bad sign of poor manufacturing as well as production quality and when it happens with a BMW, it is even more shocking. Some diesel powered BMW cars had caught fire in South Korea.
Some 27 diesel engine fires in South Korea this year alone prompted the company to recall vehicles. A faulty exhaust gas recirculation module in those BMW diesel cars caused the engine fires. BMW recalled around 106,000 vehicles there and even issued an apology.
But now according to new sources, we heard that the German luxury carmaker is recalling about 324,000 diesel vehicles in Europe as well. This is to fix the same technical issue that had caused engine fires in South Korea.
With 96,300 vehicles affected in Germany alone, BMW is also now widening the recall to Europe. According to news sources, the module will be replaced if the fault is confirmed, FAZ said on Tuesday, citing BMW. No BMW officials were available for comments or statements.
