BMW Malaysia pondering price hike, weaker ringgit might be the cause!
Kuala Lumpur: BMW Group Malaysia is contemplating to increase the price of their models starting from next year. The falling ringgit against euro might be the cause that the company is planning to take such a decision. BMW Group Malaysia's , Alan Harris, said at the launch of the locally assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport, “If the situation continues (weakening of the ringgit) I do not rule out the possibility of price increases by early next year.”

Harris reported that BMW Malaysia was placed under immense pressure when the ringgit plummeted close to RM 4.90 per euro. He also added that, “Last year, when ringgit was at RM3.80 to RM3.90 to the euro, we did not discuss about currency, but now we talk about RM4.90 per euro and this is a significant devaluation and creates pressure.”

As per the recent statistics, till August 2015, BMW Group Malaysia has delivered a total of 5,610 vehicles in the country. Among the total 4,475 units were contributed from the house of BMW while the remaining figures were made up of 481 deliveries by MINI and 654 BMW Motorrad motorcycles.

The latest launch by the company is BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport which is the company's ninth locally-assembled model for the Malaysian auto market. The all new moniker sports activity coupe (SAC) is animated to life by its refined 3.0 litres TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine churning out a total 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

BMW X6 xDrive35i M-SPort is priced at RM666,888 which is inclusive of on-the-road costs and insurance. The SUV will be offered with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty along with BMW’s Free Scheduled Service Programme.
