BMW Malaysia launches 2022 M3 Competition and M4 Competition M xDrive

KUALA LUMPUR: It’s BMW M series 50th anniversary and to celebrate the occasion the German automaker is doing so much globally. Like revealing the all-new M4 CSL, M3 Touring, BMW M 1000 RR 50th anniversary edition and much more. In Malaysia, however, the automaker has introduced not one or two, but five models, including the i4 M50, M5, M5 Competition, M3 Competition, and M4 Competition.

While we have already discussed the mean i4 M50 electric Gran Coupe, the new M5, and M5 Competition, it is now time to focus on the two latest BMW Malaysia offerings - the M3 Competition with M xDrive and M4 Competition with M xDrive.

Engine configuration

Powering the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4 Competition Coupe with M xDrive is a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine generating a maximum power output of 510 PS along with a peak torque of 650 Nm.
The drive is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic & intelligent all-wheel system.

On the performance front, boh the cars complete the century sprint in just 3.5 seconds.

Driving enhancing tech

As mentioned above, the cars feature M xDrive all-wheel drive system which comes with a deliberate rear-wheel bias. Meaning, during normal drives the power is channeled to the rear wheels. However, front wheels get their share of power too when the car reaches its traction limits.

Complementing the AWD system in the rear axle is an active M Differential that divides the engine power between the rear wheels. Thus ensuring enhanced agility, traction, and directional stability.

The driver can even tailor the AWD system characteristics in accordance to the individual preferences and driving situation. All this can be done via three driving modes, including 2WD, 4WD, and 4WD Sport.

The specifically developed M Drive Professional is for track driving, as it helps the driver make consistent progress by tracking and recording the performance data.

Design language

Both the cars benefit from the automaker’s intelligent lightweight construction, part of which is carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof that helps enhance agility and lower the centre of gravity.

Some of the striking design elements include all-black, frameless kidney grille, sleek headlights, trapezoidal air inlet, and M forged light-alloy wheels.

Cabin inclusions

The cabin has been designed keeping in mind the driver's full focus remains on the road and passengers enjoy every bit of their time in the car. For which, the cars come crafted with structured surfaces and ergonomically impeccable cockpit.

Optional features

BMW Malaysia is offering several optional and customisation equipment like - exterior hues, cabin upholstery, driving assistance, interior trim, and M Performance parts.

Availability
