BMW Malaysia first DC fast-charging station now open
KUALA LUMPUR: As the Malaysian automotive industry is ready to embrace electrification, the automakers are continuing to roll out new EVs and develop charging infrastructure. BMW Malaysia today introduced its newly-installed DC Fast Chargers at Auto Bavaria Ara Damansara. This is the first of many charging stations the automaker has committed to install at BMW i dealers nationwide.

The BMW DC fast charger can charge the iX from zero to 80% in half an hour.The new facility is now open for public use. It features twin Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors, which means two EVs can be charged simultaneously. The outputs of the fast chargers are rated at 180 kW i.e. higher than the 150 kW supported by the brand’s new electric cars - iX and iX3. As per the automaker, the DC fast chargers are able to charge these EVs from zero to 80% in half an hour.

BMW Malaysia offers the iX in two trims - xDrive40 standard and xDrive40 Sport, priced at RM 419,630 and RM 472,630, respectively. The iX3 is also on offer in two versions - Inspiring and Impressive, the former is priced at RM 317,360, while the latter retails for RM 336,360. The German automaker will soon introduce the i4 electric sedan on the local shores.
