BMW Malaysia announces price list post SST
KUALA LUMPUR: With the SST (sales and service tax) back in place after a few months of zero-rated GST (tax holiday of a kind), the automobile companies are bringing on revised price lists for the models. And guess what, the trend of the pricing has definitely gone the buyers' way.
BMW Malaysia has now revealed the price list of all the models in its gallery. And just as the trend goes, the CKD (completely knocked down) units are now more affordable while the CBUs have become expensive than before. The sales and service tax is now 10% against the earlier 6% GST.
The biggest reduction in the price has been witnessed by BMW 530e Sport, which was initially priced at RM343,800 along with GST. However, it has been now priced at RM328,800, which means a sharp reduction of RM15,000. The next biggest price difference has come for the 530i M Sport, which is now RM9,000 cheaper at RM379,800.
Having said that, the prices of the CBU models from BMW has seen a significant price hike. The M4 Coupe and M5 would now cost RM12,000 dearer over the price during GST. The 420i Coupe Sport and the 430i Coupe M Sport are RM 7,000 and RM 8,000 more expensive than before. However, quite interestingly, the X5 xDrive40e M Sport has seen a price hike of RM2,000 only.
Also, there were a couple of cars that were launched during the zero-rated GST period. For those, the price would definitely shoot up with the inclusion of tax. While the X3 xDrive30i Luxury has seen a hike of RM11,000, the price of the i8 Coupe has surged up by a whopping RM98,000 from RM1,310,800 to RM1,408,800.
