BMW Malaysia and Genetari join hands for green mobility services
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gentari) at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. As per the agreement, the two companies will find out ways of implementing green mobility services and solutions and renewable energy deployment.

The official signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy CEO of Gentari & CEO of Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, Shah Yang Razalli, and Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
Upon signing the deal, Shah Yang Razalli said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with a prestigious automotive brand like BMW to expand the accessibility of green mobility services and solutions in Malaysia. Additionally, Gentari's capabilities in renewable energy will also help to establish a more comprehensive green electron value chain and together, we can pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future.”
Adding to that, Hans de Visser stated, “As the leading premium automaker offering the largest portfolio of Electric Vehicles in Malaysia, we at BMW Group Malaysia are pleased to collaborate with Gentari to develop more mobility solutions, services as well as infrastructure to drive more Clean and Responsible technology and practices for the automotive industry here. I can already envision this partnership shaping the future mobility landscape of Malaysia, offering more solutions created through the means of sustainable development and circularity.”
A brief on Gentari and BMW's fast-growing EV charging network
Started in June 2022, Gentari is rapidly expanding its green mobility network. As of now, it has installed more than 160 charging points in Malaysia and 170 charging points in India through its affiliated entities. The company aims to become the most valued clean energy solutions partner in the Asia Pacific by 2030 and capture over 10% market share of charge points and Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) offerings, across key markets in the region.
BMW Group Malaysia, on the other hand, has more than 1,000 charging facilities in its network so far. 400 of these facilities are available through partnerships with ChargEV and Yinson Greentech, 100 through JomCharge, 150 through Gentari, and 160 from new partners such as Shell Recharge with ParkEasy, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U, and FlexiParking. More than 100 charging spots for BMW i and MINI vehicles are available at authorised dealerships and other places around the country.
