BMW M celebrates its 50th anniversary with a heritage badge & paint
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorsport, now called BMW M, is a German automaker’s motorsport division dedicated to racing activities. Created in 1972, BMW M reworks the road cars as well, thus creating a dynasty of high-performance M cars. Now, this particular diver-oriented M car creator is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee next year. And to get fans excited, BMW is introducing a special badge for new M cars as well as for regular models with the M Sport package.

Also, the BMW M line-up will be extended with new arrivals like the BMW M2 (based on the latest G42 2 Series coupe and BMW Concept XM) and BMW M3 Touring.
Apart from the new badge and new models, BMW M will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with several well-planned events. For instance, performances planned at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Northern Italy, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach, USA.
A bit of history …
It was in 1972, that BMW M started as the new motorsport wing of BMW AG, it was composed of drivers, specialists, and engineers. In 1973 with its 3.0-litre CSL coupe, BMW Motorsport GmbH took the racetrack and the car became the most successful touring car by winning six out of seven European Championships.
Over the years, BMW M claimed more titles and victories as well as technical know-how, motivating BMW to make a purpose-built racing car. And so was built the 178 BMW M1.
