At the very beginning of 2024, BMW Malaysia took us all by surprise when its website suggested the soon arrival of the all-new iX2. However, since then we have had our eyes glued but nothing seemed to have changed. The new eclectic car is yet to arrive here, but it recently made its way to Thailand.

Adding to the overall pleasure is its distinct design language characterized by powerful lines and not to forget the whole athletic look & feel. On the inside, you’ll find high-quality gear, innovative tech, and ergonomic comfort.

    Variants

    Globally the iX2 was introduced alongside its ICE (internal combustion engine) X2 counterparts. While the iX2 is offered in a single variant option, the iX2 xDrive30. As for the petrol-powered trim, it is available in three options - sDrive20i, sDrive18d, and M35i xDrive. The latter is a BMW M model.

    Design

    Powerful appearance is what the iX2’s exterior is all about. The electric car features the brand’s popular kidney Iconic Glow radiator grille that steals the show on any given night, all thanks to the white light accentuating the car’s distinctive contours. Another amazing bit is the innovative LED fiber tech that generates eye-catching lighting effects when the car is driven, opened, and closed. Other powerful features on the outside include -

As for seating comfort, the iX2 sports ergonomic sports seats that offer support in diverse driving conditions be it a dynamic sporty drive or a leisurely cruise.     Innovative technology

    BMW iX2 has a lot to offer on the tech and function front that is intuitive to use. Starting with the large curved display and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Operating System 9 that will help control music, navigation, and vehicle settings. The car packs twelve speakers and 205 watts, and the Harman Kardon loudspeaker system offers acoustically & visually outstanding sound.

    The iX2 packs several other gears that add to passengers' comfort including a wireless charging tray, and an extended storage area for large devices. For the driver, the car has in stock the BMW head-up display that projects navigation and necessary driving information directly into the driver’s view.

    Driving Assistance

    The BMW iX2 packs several advanced driving assistance features that help improve the driving experience at every step.

    Driving Assistance Professional will keep the car in the right lane and at a distance at a speed of up to 210 kmph. The feature comes in handy, especially in congested traffic. In an emergency situation, the car will brake to a standstill and automatically drive off again.

    Parking Assistance Plus offers the driver an extensive overview while parking. The cameras transmit a 3D view of the car’s surroundings on the control display.

    Glare-free High-beam Assistant provides the very best light on dark roads; it hides other road users from the light cone

    Connectivity at its best

    BMW Digital Key Plus allows the user to use the smartphone as a key and even share it digitally with up to 5 people. The car will open automatically as the owner approaches with the smartphone and it will be accompanied by a light projection.

    BMW head-up display projects the driver with driving-relevant information directly into his/her field of view.

    The augmented view displays info on route guidance through live video images in the instrument cluster or control display.

    Range & Charge

    The iX2 xDrive30 offers a driving range of up to 449 km (WLTP)
    The EV comes paired with a 64.8 kWh battery which takes a little less than 3.5 hours to charge via a 22 kW on-board AC charger. Also, present is a 130 kW DC charging option that takes approximately 29 minutes to take the battery from 10-80%

    Powertrain

    The BMW iX2 is offered in a single powertrain option which includes a dual-motor setup same as the iX1. As for the output, the system pumps out a maximum power of 313 hp and a peak torque of 494 Nm.

    Performance

    The above setup allows the EV to complete the century sprint in just 5.6 seconds.
