BMW iX scores perfect 5-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW’s pure-electric SUV, the iX, represents a new era in individual mobility. It is loaded with a comprehensive range of digital features that not only make it hi-tech and modern but also safe. And the latter has been proved through its performance at the highest level of safety crash test i.e. Euro NCAP. It scored the maximum five-star ratings in all test categories of the European New Car Assessment Programme.

“The extremely stable body structure and the extended range of restraint systems ensure an outstanding level of occupant protection. In addition, the BMW iX scores highly both in the test programme and in everyday driving with innovative driver assistance systems that significantly reduce the risk of accidents in a wide array of situations,” he added.
Included in the BMW iX safety features are six airbags, a front collision warning system with brake intervention, an automatic emergency braking system, rear cross-traffic warning, rear collision prevention, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, steering and lane control assist, automatic speed limit assist, evasion assistant and more.
The iX electric SUV recently made its debut in Malaysia through the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The two variants on offer are the xDrive40 and xDrive40 Sport, both powered by a dual-motor setup that generates a maximum power output of 326 PS and a peak torque of 630 Nm. The setup is coupled with a 76.6-kWh battery pack that delivers an electric drive range of 425 km (on the WLTP cycle).
On the performance front, it can run from zero to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 200 kmph.
The iX xDrive40 is priced at RM 419,630, while the xDrive40 Sport retails for RM 472,630.
