BMW introduces the first-even M3 Touring; full details revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the BMW M range and the German automaker has made the benchmark achievement loud and clear with several celebrations and new introductions. One such celebratory arrival is that of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring that comes with the goodness of the regular M4 and M3.

Engine: Powering the all-new M3 Touring is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six unit generating maximum power of 510 hp along with a peak torque of 650 Nm. Thus, offering owners the experience of a high-performance car and the practicality of an everyday commute.
Transmission: The drive is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox with M xDrive all-wheel-drive system & Drivelogic.
Performance: The M3 Touring engine and transmission setup allow the car to complete the century sprint in only 3.6 seconds and hit the 200 kmph mark in 12.9 seconds. The car’s top speed is electronically-limited to 280 kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
Drive enhancing features: BMW has turned the first-ever M3 Touring with quite a few driving modes that are available with 4WD settings. In case the driver wants to enjoy some rear-wheels-only fun, it can be done by turning off the Dynamic Stability Control. Further enhancing the drive are stiffened rear axle and suspension that makes the drive as fun as the M3 Competition saloon.
Also, part of the dynamic driving experience kit is the fin-turned chassis, specific underfloor & boot bracing, adaptive damper, versatile-ratio steering, brake-by-wire system, ten-step traction control, and M Compound disc brake behind the 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.
Design: The brand new BMW M model stands on its own design merits thanks to the M-specific exterior bits. For instance, conventional full-length kidney grille, long roof with a divisive front end, wheel arches, trapezoidal headlights, vertical air curtain inlets, split centre air intake, diagonal side gills, muscular fenders, and heavily sculpted bonnet with faux vent divots.
At the rear, the car gets a giant rectangular diffuser with quad tailpipes (optionally available in chrome), and a bespoke Gurney flap atop the tailgate spoiler.
