BMW Group Malaysia Donates Engines to Automotive Institutions
Kuala Lumpur: BMW Group Malaysia has set out another example of munificence by donating five of its TwinPower Turbo 2.0-Litre 4 Cylinder engines to 5 Malaysian automotive institutions running in various engineering colleges and universities. BMW Malaysia took this step to proffer more practical approach thus enhancing engineering expertise among students in the field of research and development of automobile engineering.
This is not just one case, BMW Group is known to be a self-proclaimed leader in inter-cultural communication. The company has set a goal of benefiting a total of one million people by 2020. Among the benefactors the major target is the student's, BMW hopes to accomplish this goal through their programs like The School's Environmental Education Development Project to raise youth awareness of environmental and social issues. The German carmaker also plans to achieve a long-term goal of becoming CO2 emissions free over time through their Research and Development in various countries.
In Malaysia, the German carmaker donated their TwinPower Turbo 2.0-Litre 4 Cylinder engines to five major institutions preparing Mechanical Engineers of the future. These institutes were Taylor’s University, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, The Otomotif College and International College of Automotive.
Mr. Alan Harris, M.D and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “Working with engineering universities and colleges here provides us with the opportunity to share and grow expertise, skills and indirectly helps drive innovation for the automotive industry in the country. It is our way of creating value for the industry which is a core principle of the BMW Group.”
Harris reported that the BMW Group Malaysia is also further collaborating with various Malaysian academic institutions to generate highly skilled manpower that can bring about a change in the automotive and business space of Malaysia.
Alan Harris also said that the company has also established a relationship with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Johor that will help out the carmaker in Supply Chain and Logistics Management studies. BMW group has established a Group Regional Distribution Centre at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Johor that will serve for over 22 years in the region. Therefore, the mutual relationship with the UTM will help the company to share its knowledge and expertise in various streams of Supply Chain and Logistics Management in the country.
