Launched in August 2020, the BTTP has set a high standard for technical education in the country, offering a comprehensive 3.5-year course that blends classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. The programme culminates in a 12-month apprenticeship, where students immerse themselves in real-world automotive environments, refining their skills in line with the stringent standards of both the German Chamber of Commerce and the BMW Group.
Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, highlighted the importance of talent development in delivering premium automotive experiences. "A core belief we hold at the BMW Group is that the foundation of delivering the Premium Ownership Experience begins with investing in exceptional talent. Our exclusive partnership with TOC Automotive College has been a crucial step in nurturing the next generation of local talent to lead in automotive technology. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our first five BTTP graduates, who have not only met the world-class standards of the BMW Group, but are also poised to excel in the evolving automotive landscape."
Graduates of the programme not only received a Diploma in Automotive Technology from TOC Automotive College, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), but they also earn a certification from BMW Group Malaysia. This dual recognition ensures that these young professionals are well-prepared for successful careers within the automotive sector, both locally and internationally.
The partnership between BMW Group Malaysia and TOC Automotive College goes beyond the BTTP, with previous initiatives such as the donation of BMW engines for research purposes and the integration of TOC alumni into BMW's dealership network. This ongoing collaboration reinforces BMW Group Malaysia's commitment to advancing automotive education and supporting local talent development.
The success of the BTTP’s first batch of graduates is a testament to the programme’s effectiveness in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, setting a strong foundation for future advancements in Malaysia’s automotive industry.
