BMW and MINI new mobile apps launched in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Since 2013, BMW is offering the option of effortless connectivity between the smartphone and vehicle to its customers. It launched the BMW i Remote app in 2013, followed by the BMW Connected app in 2016 and an all-new-generation app last year, which has now made its way to the local market. BMW Group Malaysia yesterday introduced the New My BMW App and the New MINI App that enable better “digital personalization of the Premium Ownership Experience.”
Available in more than 50 countries now, the new BMW and MINI apps offer a comprehensive range of functions that make the interaction between driver and vehicle more seamless than ever before. Some of them are:
The Vehicle tab offers access to remote vehicle services like Active Charging, Vehicle Finder, Remote Lock and Unlock with Climate Charge, and the Climate Timer. Remote Engine Start and Flashlights, and Remote Software Upgrades.
- It manages the vehicle service and maintenance requirements through service and recall alerts and online appointment scheduling. BMW and MINI Roadside Assistance and Driver’s Guide options are also available.
- E-mobility features on offer include a better overview of the Fuel/Battery Level, Range, and Charging Status
- The Map tab shows the location and the destination along the way, with features such as the Map Search, Point of Interests, Nearby Parking, Charging Spots, Charging Station Details, and reachable POIs.
- Exclusive to the New My BMW App is the Connected Drive Store and Discover BMW
On top of these, the users with selected BMW models can also pair their BMW Digital Key with the New My BMW App, but it is only available on smartphones running iOS for now.
According to the company, the new My BMW and MINI apps will replace the BMW Connected app and MINI Connected app beginning July this year. The new apps are now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store; the users already registered on BMW and MINI Connected apps do not need to re-register themselves for signing in to the new applications.
“As we progress exponentially into a digital future, BMW Group Malaysia is also committed towards supporting individual electromobility solutions that are designed to unlock the full digital potential of our BMW and MINI vehicles. The new applications are also products of identifying and listening to our customers’ evolving needs, as we seamlessly integrate our BMW and MINI vehicles into their digital lifestyles to offer not just useful content for daily travel, but also better personal interaction with us as a brand,” said Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
