BMW and Gentari open a new EV charging facility at The Exchange TRX

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia continues to enhance Malaysia's electric vehicle ecosystem with the introduction of innovative EV charging solutions and infrastructure upgrades. Recently, the German conglomerate joined hands with Gentari’s subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd to open its new EV charging facility at The Exchange TRX. 

The key highlights of the new BMW EV charging facility are as follows - 

• It is located at The Exchange TRX's basement carpark and features a total of 13 units of 22kWh AC chargers, offering EV owners an efficient way to juice up their vehicles’ batteries during their visit to the shopping hub.
• Among these units, 5 are conveniently located at the Premium Parking level, while the remaining 8 are situated at Level B1.
• Charging rates for these EV chargers are set at RM 0.25 per minute.
• The BMW EV charging facility at The Exchange TRX is operational daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.

Upon launching the new EV charging station, Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director at BMW Group Malaysia said, "The growth in regard to Malaysia’s reception of electromobility, especially in the most populated areas of the country, has been thriving - and to this end it is more vital than ever to ensure robust EV charging infrastructure is in place to accommodate this heartening maturation. Shah Yang Razalli, the Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility also expressed his thoughts. Over the past few years, the EV charging network of BMW Group Malaysia has expanded to over 2,020 facilities through strategic partnerships with various EV charging providers. Additionally, over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships in the country.

Gentari is a leading charging point operator in Malaysia with the largest network of licensed chargers certified by the Energy Commission. The recently launched ‘Gentari Go’ clean energy platform offers customers access to over 2,000 chargers across Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, through cross-border roaming partnerships.
