BMW 440i and 325d to be Equipped with New Set Of Engines
Kuala Lumpur: BMW is all set to refresh its 440i and 325d with new set of engines. This would include latest-generation diesel engines and new selection of petrol engines. Looks like this German automaker is on a spree as recently in December 2015, it has announced a robust 800 hp 4.4-litre V8 engine for its i8. And now this announcement hints towards its future plans to launch even more powerful engines.
Talking about the 440i, it would be powered by a newly developed 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology. This powerful engine is capable of delivering a maximum power of 326 hp along with a commanding torque of 450 Nm. Further, it is mated with a six-speed manual transmission as standard or an eight-speed Streptronic automatic transmission as an option which sends power to its rear wheels. The BMW 440i takes just 5 seconds to complete a century sprint with its automatic transmission. The fuel consumption for this car comes to 12.9 – 13.5 kmpl which makes it 12% more fuel efficient as compared to its predecessor.
Moving over to BMW 325d, the new engine would be featured in both 325d Sedan and 325d Touring. This duo would be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Twin Turbocharged engine with multi-stage turbocharging and common-rail direct injection system. Further, this robust engine would deliver a maximum power of 224 hp. From a position of halt, the 325d Sedan would take 6.1 seconds to reach an acceleration of 100 kmph while the 325d Touring would take 6.3 seconds.
Currently, there are no plans for these engines to be launched in Malaysia. But in future if they do, it would prove to be a big threat for the presently available Mercedes Benz C 250 CDI.
