BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and X3 receive a new suspension system

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside rolling out the new variants of the 3 Series sedan, BMW Malaysia has also introduced an update for the 2 Series Gran Coupe and X3 sDrive20i M Sport recently. These models now come with the brand’s Standard Suspension system, which is touted as the comfort-oriented one. It features a softer spring and damper setup and promises a more comfortable ride, claims the automaker.

Not only that, but the German auto giant has also updated the suspension setups of other trims of the X3 SUV. The xDrive30i M Sport and X3 xDrive30e M Sport are now offered with an Adaptive Suspension setup, in place of the M Sport Suspension and Standard Suspension respectively earlier fitted on these models. 

The new setup incorporates shock absorbers that can automatically adjust to road conditions and thus minimises disruptive vehicle movements, says BMW.

Apart from suspension updates, the specifications of these BMW models remain the same as earlier. The 218i Gran Coupe continues to get power from a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder mill which delivers a maximum power of 140 PS along with a peak torque of 220 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It retails for RM 235,800.

The BMW X3 trims, on the contrary, come with different powertrains. The sDrive20i is powered by 184 PS/300 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an 8-Speed Automatic Steptronic gearbox. The xDrive30i takes energy from 252 PS/350 Nm 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo mill paired with the same gearbox. The hybrid trim is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and a 109-hp electric motor. Pricing for the BMW X3 starts at RM 329,800 and goes all the way up to RM 371,800.
