Based on FT-1, Toyota Supra Rendered
KUALA LUMPUR: It has been known that Toyota is manufacturing a sports car, which is going to replace the discontinued Toyota Supra, in partnership with BMW. All are waiting for the result of this partnership, which will be revealed in 2018. The photos are visualized by rendering wizard Theophilus Chin, based on the FT-1 concept.
The FT-1 Concept was long known to be the inspirational base for the next gent Toyota Supra. As a result, Theo has reconfigured the existing design architecture of the FT-1 and has toned it down to resemble a car that is production ready. Under this effort, the triple-claw headlights in the concept have been replaced by a practical projector cluster. The proboscis nose and twin electric intake fans have given way to a more streamlined panel architecture. A more pedistrian-friendly and gaping lower air inlet is borrowed from its stable sibling, Toyota 86.
Other parts borrowed from the 86 include wing mirrors, wheels and door handles. The Corvette ZR1-style glass engine “window” and large front air vents have also been removed. The complicated barrel-like surface and flanks which won't be appropriate in a production version has been eliminated.
Both BMW and Toyota models will share a common BMW-sourced turbo straight-six engine. As per reports, Toyota has trademarked the S-FR name for this upcoming model.
