Auto Expo 2020: Kia Seltos X-Line Concept showcased

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia has revealed the more rugged version of the compact SUV Seltos, the Seltos X-Line concept at the auto exhibition ongoing in India. The reports, however, tell that it is not the same Seltos X-Line concepts that were uncovered last year at the LA Auto Show, rather a completely different version of the outgoing Seltos there.

For unawares, the Seltos X-Line concepts revealed last year featured a roof rack, rally lights, rugged bumpers and increased ground clearance. Additionally, the Trail Attack variant had off-road tyres, a front-mounted winch and rally lights attached to the front bumper. Plus, they had an AWD variant, which generates a max power of 177 PS and a peak torque of 264 Nm from the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed automatic DCT.

However, the Seltos X-Line concept displayed in India is a lot different. The bumpers have been made more rugged than on the stock variant. Skid plates have made their way to the X-Line concept and so has the roof rack. There is no AWD option for the Indian market, rather just the front-wheel-drive Seltos X-Line. Also, the rally features have been omitted. The orange accents provide sporty touch to the car that can be found at the bumpers (front and rear) and wheels along with the X-Line emblem on the sides of the car.

Under the hood, the most powerful variant of the India-spec Seltos X-Line is the GT Line, which is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of peak torque. There is a possibility that the South Korean automaker does not launch an off-roader Seltos in India. The extravagant exterior accessories are, however, expected to be offered for the rugged appearance.
