Audi Q8 3.0 TFSI quattro to cost RM 727,900

KUALA LUMPUR: Set to lock horns with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW X6, the Audi Q8 in a solitary variant has been officially launched in Malaysia. The SUV is a five-seater model and has been given a price tag of RM 727,990 (five-year/unlimited mileage warranty included) which is exclusive of the insurance cost. Powering the Audi Q8 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol mill that makes 345 PS of maximum power from 5,200 to 6,400 rpm and a peak torque 500 Nm between from 1,370 and 4,500 rpm. The power delivery to all four wheels is done via an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission unit in combination with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. While the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph, the Audi Q8 can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.9 seconds.

There is also a mild hybrid system which includes a 48-volt electrical system with a lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter. Up to 12 kW of power can be recovered while braking via the belt alternator starter. 11.2 kmpl is the claimed fuel efficiency. The SUV also gets a progressive and all-wheel steering, and adaptive air suspension. Top of the line features like LED tail lights with dynamic turn signal, parking aid plus with 360-degree surround view cameras, HD matrix LED headlights with dynamic light design and dynamic turn signal, panoramic sunroof, and 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with 275/50 tyres all make their way to the Q8.

On the inside, the SUV comes laden with Valcona leather upholstery, Oak Grey interior inlays, individual contour seats with 18-way power adjustment and seat ventilation, manual sun blinds for both rear doors, and electric sunshade for the rear windscreen. Audi’s virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus infotainment system with MMI touch response, dual-screen setup with a 10.1-inch upper and 8.6-inch lower touchscreen, four-zone automatic climate control, Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D sound, Audi smartphone interface, and a head-up display are the amenities you find inside the car.

Safety features on the Audi Q8 comprise of six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. There is also the Audi pre sense front which includes turn assist and collision avoidance assist along with camera-based traffic sign recognition.
