All-touch, no buttons on cards for next-gen Tucson interior

KUALA LUMPUR: The next-gen Hyundai Tucson has been making headlines for quite some time. Often, the upcoming SUV has been spotted doing test runs, and on other occasions, we catch hold of its spy and render images.

From all we have seen until now, the new Hyundai Tucson looks like a promising car with a unique exterior profile. Even Hyundai's Design Centre head, Sangyup Lee, has said that upcoming Tucson's design will freak us all out. Hyundai's product planning manager, Andrew Tuatahi, said that the car is 'very interesting visually'. The vehicle is expected to feature a prominent front grille (inspired by the Grandmaster concept) and split headlamp set-up.

Enough about the exterior design, we now move towards the SUV's interior design. World Scoops (a French forum) recently posted the car's interior sketch, which the company has denied releasing. The automaker said, "We have not released any teaser of the next generation Tucson. So we cannot confirm."

Anyways, the said sketch concentrates on the car's dashboard, which we must say looks futuristic. No buttons, only screens is its best explanation. We see a screen-based instrument cluster showing all the required information to the driver, touch-screen infotainment system followed by a touch control panel for air-con and other functions. Thus, making the dashboard look clean and clutter-free.

Without a doubt, it reminds us of the recently released next-gen MBUX system that'll first make an appearance in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Coming back to Tucson, can the SUV feature a cabin like this? Well, if it does, it won't come as a shock because we have seen many car makers adopting such a touch-based cabin.

The next-gen Hyundai Tucson is expected to arrive in the latter half of 2021 or at the beginning of 2022. Once launched, it will compete against the likes of VW Tiguan, Honda CR-V, and upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross.
