Kuala Lumpur: After the leaked images of Volvo V90 2017, the Swedish automaker is finally unveiling it in Stockholm on February 18. Earlier, the car was scheduled to be launched at the 86th Geneva International Motor Show 2016 but now the marquee wants to mark an early entry. The actual date of this launch is yet to confirm, but tentatively the car will be unveiled two weeks earlier to the Swiss event. It is estimated that the car will be available for sale globally after early 2017 through the authorized Volvo dealerships.
Earlier in January, a couple of images of the new Volvo V90 were leaked and created hype in the Malaysian auto market. The much-awaited launch was speculated for quite some time now and with the Geneva International Motor Show 2016 approaching, the auto enthusiasts were eyeing upon it for the new Volvo estate. With a possibility of February launch, the Volvo V90 is arriving with various new aspects and comforting features for its customers.
Talking about its mechanics first, the new V90 engine is inspired from the Volvo S90 sedan. The 2.0-litre powertrain is available in both diesel and petrol variants. These efficient engines are capable of knocking out a fairly good power output ranging between 190 and 400 hp with highly controlled CO2 emission. Both of the engines are either mated with an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual gearbox for the convenience and efficiency. Adding to these are the advanced safety features for which Volvo is well known. Some of the aspects include - Front Collision warnings, Adaptive Cruise Control, seven airbags, lane keeping aid, Hill Descent and Roll Stability control system. The Volvo patented SPA architecture based layout is capable of offering the best protection in the worst-case scenarios avoiding any fatal injuries during a crash.
Coming to the appearance, this new estate has sharp edges with a slim curve, straight lines and LED headlamp design that gives it a look quite similar to its sibling S90 sedan. Volvo V90 estate car is replacing the Volvo V70 model and is likely to drag more customers considering advanced technology and features incorporated in it. The arrival of new V90 estate can be a threat to big names like Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon, Audi A6 Avant and BMW 5-Series Touring in terms of style, safety aspects, comfort and power. It would be definitely interesting to watch if the elite manufacturer would make it big in the Malaysian auto market after the recent launches of Volvo XC90 T5 and XC90 R-design in the global market.
