All-new Toyota Wigo launched in Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: Vietnam has become the first left-hand-drive market to welcome the next-gen Wigo hatchback. For those who aren’t familiar, Wigo is also sold as the Perodua Axia, Toyota Agya, and Daihatsu Ayla in the international market.

What does the new Toyota Wigo brings to the table in Vietnam, let’s find out -

Price & Variants

The Vietnam-spec Wigo is offered in two trim options; E MT and G CVT. They are priced as follows -

Wigo E MT	VND 360 million (~RM 70.5k)
Wigo G CVT	VND 405 million (~RM 79k)

If you find the above-mentioned prices high considering the fact that it is an entry-level car, that's because Vietnam has pretty high taxes on cars.

Powertrain

Powering the next-gen Wigo is a 1.2-liter twin-cam, 12-valve inline-3 petrol engine generating a maximum power of 88 PS along with a peak torque of 113 Nm.

The drive is sent to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission (in the E variant) and Daihatsu's Dual-Mode Continuously Variable Transmission (in the top-spec G variant).

Compared to the Wigo, the Perodua Axia seems to be more feature-packed, especially on the safety front.
