Kuala Lumpur: The crossover segment is heating up and taking over the other relative segments like MPVs and SUVs. With qualities of a sedan, MPV and SUV compiled in a crossover, who would not like to go for these stylish drives which show their stance on and off the road. Keeping the same tips in mind, various automakers are now jumping into the subcompact crossover segment and delivering what today's customer need. The latest to join the segment is the absolutely stunning Toyota C-HR which has been unveiled at the ongoing 86th Geneva International Motor Show 2016. With the arrival of this robust yet chic drive, surely some carmakers must be feeling jealous.
With a youthful and aggressive appearance, the new Toyota C-HR was initially speculated to be launched as the new Scion. Keeping the rumours aside, the Japanese giant staged the production model of what it showcased at the Paris Motor Show 2014 under the name of Toyota C-HR Concept with some tweaks and practical modifications. Talking about the technical aspects of the all new C-HR crossover, it shared the platform with the new generation Toyota Prius and underpins a 1.8-litre hybrid power unit under its creased hood. This engine is capable of knocking out 120 hp of power which is pretty decent. Speculation of having 2 other options as 1.2-litre turbo engine which can show its might with 133 hp of power and a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated equally efficient engine is also floating around. The engines may come mingled with a choice of Toyota's CVT or 6-speed manual gearshift.
Coming to the part which is loved by all the auto enthusiasts. Yes, we are talking about the styling and aesthetics of this drive. The new C-HR is very much similar to its concept version. The pronounced fenders with diamond cut wheels and sporty tires, crisp creases all over the body and overall athletic structure are among the firsts to be noticed. The sloping roofline with a rear spoiler, somewhat sedan like rear and sporty tweaks are other noticeable features which work like a magnet for any prospective customer. This powerful body is perfectly matched with an equally sumptuous cabin. To summarize, the interior is rather designed like a coupe with a luxury feel with all the comforting and convenience features.
The company has pulled off the covers from the new Toyota C-HR at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and also announced that the U.S. would be the first to receive it by the spring of the year 2017. the prices and detailed specs of the 2017 C-HR crossover are still awaited and the prospective customers have to wait for some more time.
