All-new Toyota Agya unveiled in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesia's auto market got one step ahead of us with the launch of the all-new Toyota Agya, the Perodua Axia’s Indo twin. As for the latter, the new Axia is scheduled to arrive anytime today, i.e., 14th Feb 2023, and we are eagerly waiting for that moment.

For now, let us concentrate on the all-new Toyota Agya and see what it has to offer -

Variants

Toyota introduced the all-new Agya in two variants at its debut - the G and GR Sport.

Powerplant

Powering the new Agya is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, output details are not yet revealed by the automaker. For context, the ongoing 1.2-litre unit makes 88 hp and 108 Nm of torque and is paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission which sends drive to the front wheels.

The new 1.2-litre unit, however, will be coupled with a new Dual-Mode CVT gearbox.

Design

The all-new Agya looks essentially the same as the upcoming Axia, which was previewed only last week in Malaysia. A few of its unique features include the Toyota-exclusive front fascia design with a massive front opening. Some of the other highlights include -

• A new front bumper spoiler
• New grille with GR emblem
• A new sporty black alloy wheel design
• New black retractable side mirror
• New side visor with GR logo
• New side skirt
• New rear bumper spoiler
• New rear lamp design

Interior

The cabin reminds us of the upcoming Axia, as the two look just the same with the same dashboard design. Part of the specs kit is

• New exciting dash with GR steering wheel
• New GR engine start/stop button
• New floor mat with GR logo
• Combination metre with red accents
• Center cluster with digital AC
• Spacious boot
