All-new Nissan Z debut set for August 17
KUALA LUMPUR: Nearly a year after showing its upcoming Z sports car in prototype form, Nissan is finally ready to unveil its full production-spec version. Through its social media handles, the Japanese automaker announced that its full debut will be held on August 17, 2021, in New York City. However, the announcement is not accompanied by any additional details.
Set to replace the charming, but aging 370Z, the fully-disguised Nissan Z was spotted on the US roads last month when it was heading towards a local show. Before that also, it has been caught a number of times while testing, which reveals a few styling differences between the road-ready model and the Z Proto concept. For instance, side-mounted reflectors at the car's front and rear ends, that seem to be there for pleasing the regulators.
If we talk about the Nissan Z interior, we have not much in hand except a few leaks and that too are not much clear. Still, taking clues from that, we expect to see an 8.0-inch touchscreen, fully digital instrument panel, shift-by-wire selector knob, three-spoke steering wheel, and leather seating surfaces. A traditional handbrake is also likely to be there to attract auto enthusiasts.
Just like the interior, the Nissan Z mechanical details are also scarce. The reports suggest a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine generating a maximum power of 405 hp and a peak torque of 480 Nm. It is the same engine that powers several Infiniti cars as well as a Japan-limited model, the Skyline 400R. On the transmission front, it could be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, sending power to the rear wheels. A 9-speed AT sourced from Mercedes-Benz could also be on the list.
What about performance? Well, with these output levels, we can expect a 0-100 kmph sprint timing of around four seconds.
However, for the exact details, we have to wait a few months. So keep watching this place for recent updates on the upcoming Nissan Z.
