All-new Nissan Juke launched in Europe; Malaysia next

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently when Nissan launched the 2020 Juke in four cities across Europe - Cologne, Paris, London, Barcelona, and Milan. And now seeing how great the crossover segment is doing in the local market, there is a good chance that Nissan brings the 2nd-gen Juke in Malaysia as well.

Compared to the first-gen model, the B-segment crossover has extended in size. It now measures 4,210 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,595 mm in height. Also, the 2020 Juke is 23 kg lighter than the ongoing version.

Apart from the grown-up exterior, the interior too gets roomier - the rear knee room is enhanced by 5.8 cm, and the rear headroom by 1.1 cm. The boot provides 20 percent more storage space and has a total capacity of 422-litre.

What’s also new is the high strength steel used in the car’s construction. It leads to a more rigid platform that inturn offers better performance, stability, and cornering capabilities.

Under the hood rests a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder DIG-T turbocharged petrol mill that offers a maximum power of 117 PS. The engine can be coupled either to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch paddle-shift gearbox. The car comes with a driving mode selector with three options - Eco, Sport, and Standard.

Appearing first time on the new Juke is the Nissan ProPILOT technology that offers electronically assisted steering, braking, and acceleration. It also makes driving on heavy traffic and long commutes easier.

The safety kit on the 2020 Juke has also been improved. It includes Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Recognition, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Intelligent Lane Intervention.
