All-new Lexus IS gets TRD & Modellista styling tweaks

KUALA LUMPUR: It is a common practice to see a new Lexus model followed by TRD and Modellista styling kit. While the former stands for Toyota Racing Development, the latter is a well-known styling firm working alongside Toyota.

Part of the recent Lexus TRD and Modellista styling additions are the cars like the new Yaris Cross, Prius, RAV4, CH-R, and others. For a more detailed idea of the wide range of options available for Lexus models, one might have a look at the Japanese market TRD and Modellista web pages.

The 2021 Lexus IS was first unveiled in June 2020 and featured revised styling, new features along with a more refined driving experience. And now, the aftermarket scene is fully activated and is offering a body-styling kit for the new IS. Speaking of which the sedan styling kit includes new skirts, a new front lip, new aero-inspired side mirror covers, and a rear diffuser.

2021 Lexus IS TRD kit consists of the following design inclusions - a front spoiler, side skirts, aerodynamic mirror covers, aggressive rear diffuser, and a sport exhaust. Not only styling but the TRD kit gets performance-enhancing additions like balanced forge alloy wheels, chassis bracing, and performance suspension. Besides, the IS sedan comes with a selection of underbody bracing and performance dampers for improved cornering ability.

As for the Modellista kit, it takes on a rather classy and relaxed approach. It consists of custom 19-inch alloy wheels, front wing spoiler, side and rear skirt, trunk spoiler, and sporty exhaust exit. The said package is aimed for a more mature audience and features several soft and chrome lines, accentuating the car's already bold creases.
