All-new 6th-gen Mitsubishi Triton open for booking in Malaysia - From RM102k, 204PS/470Nm

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Mitsubishi Triton has officially opened for booking in Malaysia. Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has revealed that this sixth-generation pick-up truck is set to launch in October 2024, offering five variants.

The range-topping Triton Athlete is estimated to cost around RM170,000, while the newly introduced Single Cab variant is expected to start at RM102,000.

Booking and Promotions

The all-new Triton’s launch coincides with MMM's "Drive Your Ambition Brand Festival." As part of this ongoing campaign, the first 500 customers who place their booking through the Mitsubishi Online Showroom will receive an exclusive 60L folding storage box worth RM450.

Key highlights of the new Mitsubishi Triton

The Triton series has a long-standing legacy, with over 5.6 million units sold worldwide since its inception in 1978. Mitsubishi’s CEO, Shinya Ikeda, highlighted that the Triton has been redesigned for its latest iteration, featuring updates to the exterior, interior, chassis, ladder frame, and engine.

This sixth-generation Triton is built from the ground up, combining durability, reliability, and a fresh new look, Ikeda mentioned to the media.

The Triton has always been known for its robust performance, durability, and comfortable ride. The latest version builds on this reputation with several key improvements:

1. Upgraded Performance: The Triton now comes equipped with a new 2.4L two-stage turbo engine, delivering an increased output of 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. This upgrade promises enhanced performance for both on-road and off-road driving.

2. Beefed-Up Size: The all-new Triton features a larger body compared to its predecessor and is underpinned by a newly developed mega-frame chassis, ensuring improved durability and reliability.

3. Enhanced Comfort and Ride Quality: The suspension has been completely overhauled to offer better ride comfort and steering stability. With the inclusion of the Super Select 4WD-II system and seven driving modes, the Triton aims to excel in varied terrain and driving conditions.

4. Improved Safety: The Triton now comes with Active Yaw Control for better handling on slippery surfaces. Additionally, the truck boasts an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes a suite of features designed to boost both safety and comfort for daily and business use.

5. SUV-Like Comfort: According to Mitsubishi, they have paid special attention to interior features, with SUV-inspired elements such as wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and multiple storage compartments.

Variants Overview

The new Triton will be available in both double cab and single cab configurations. The double cab variant provides two rows of seats, blending the comfort of an SUV with the utility of a pick-up truck.

The single cab, intended for more practical use, offers a 2.4L engine delivering 184 PS and 430 Nm of torque, along with a segment-leading cargo deck measuring 2,340 mm in width and 1,580 mm in length.
