Powertrain configuration
The all-new XC60 is offered in two variant options and so two different powertrains. The base B5 Plus is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator (ISG) positioned between the engine and transmission making 14 PS and 40 Nm.
Together the engine and ISG make a total system output of 263 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 390 Nm from 1,800 to 4,800 rpm.
The drive is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drivetrain.
The XC60 Recharge T8 Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid model’s powertrain setup, on the other hand, includes a 317 hp/400 Nm 2.0-liter turbo four-pot engine along with a rear e-motor that contributes 145 PS and 309 Nm. The total system output rests at 462 PS and 709 Nm.
The e-AWD layout includes an 8-speed automatic transmission unit. And the electric motor now gets a bigger 18.8 kWh battery which previously showcased a capacity of 11.6 kWh.
Performance
The above-mentioned powertrain setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds with the top speed limited to 180 kmph. The Recharge T8 Ultimate, obviously, gets the same top speed, however, the model completes the century sprint in 4.8 seconds.
The e-motor offers an electric-only range of 81 km.

Exterior
Volvo Car Malaysia is yet to fully reveal the full exterior design configuration of the new 2023 XC60, however, there is some info we know for sure. For instance, the XC60 Recharge T8 Ultimate model benefits from the automaker’s new R-Design exterior package, thus saying goodbye to the old Inscription design theme. Part of the R-Design kit is a square-mesh grille, an “X-wing” profile front bumper, and a more expressive rear bumper. The model also gets full LED headlights with Active High Beam and active bending lights.
As for the base XC60 B5 Plus model, Volvo hasn’t explicitly stated the exterior package. However, we expect to see quite a few new inclusions compared to the previous gen model.
The only thing that experienced a change are the wheels, the model gets new 19-inch five-V-spoke black diamond-cut alloys. The PHEV model, on the other hand, rides on five-double spoke black diamond-cut units, measuring 19 inches.
