All-new 2021 Peugeot e-Rifter MPV unveiled
KUALA LUMPUR: Peugeot has unveiled a new electric van-based MPV that goes by the name e-Rifter. Peugeot built the said electric van by joining hands with Vauxhall and Citron. It is to be noted that the two automakers have a similar product in their line-up - the Vauxhall Combo-e and Citroen e-Berlingo. And since Peugeot, Vauxhall, and Citroen are in a joint venture, their respective electric MPVs share the same battery and drivetrain tech.
2021 Peugeot e-Rifter MPV platform, battery, & performance details
The new e-Rifter underpinned the Stellantis EMP2 platform that is also found underneath its counterparts from Vauxhall and Citroen.
Powering the e-Rifter is a 134 hp electric motor that is paired to a 50kWh nominal battery pack. The same setup is found under the e-Partner electric van.
On a full charge, the new e-Rifter can go for a good 275 km (as per WLTP certification).
Coming to e-Rifter's performance figures, it can complete the 0-100 km sprint in 11.2 seconds and can attain a top speed of 134 kmph, a tad bit quicker than the e-Partner.
Like the e-Expert and e-Partner, the e-Rifter features three driving modes - normal, eco, and power. With each mode, the system modifies the amount of battery power available by switching between maximizing range and performance.
2021 Peugeot e-Rifter variants
The French automaker is offering the electric MPV in two trim options - Allure Premium and GT. Both can be picked in either 'Standard' or 'Long' variant options. The difference? While both are offered in 5-and 7-seat configuration, there is a difference in the boot space and length.
2021 Peugeot e-Rifter cabin features
Peugeot's latest electric MPV benefits from the brand's i-Cockpit infotainment system and an 8-inch central touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support come in standard.
2021 Peugeot e-Rifter safety kit
Peugeot has packed the electric van-based MPV with several safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning system, and automatic collision alert. A reversing camera is part of its standard safety kit which is not the case with Vauxhall Combo-e Life.
