After Forester and Outback, XV get EyeSight tech
KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a while back that Subaru introduced the EyeSight tech in two of its models - Outback and Forester in Malaysia. During the launch interview session of the 5th gen Forester, Managing Director of Tan Chong, Glenn Tan was pooped with the question as to when the XV will get the EyeSight tech. He said that the Subaru XV crossover would be the next car in the company’s lineup to benefit from the suite of driver and safety assistance systems.
Mr. Tan Chong said that the XV facelift model would be the one to get the EyeSight tech, but he didn’t clarify as to when the car will arrive. It was at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show that the company introduced the second-gen XV globally and is scheduled for a mid-cycle update.
The ongoing Subaru XV is available as a locally-assembled model that made its debut in the country in November 2017 without EyeSight technology. However, the tech is available in the XV model in other markets like the Philippines.
It was at the 2018 Singapore Motor Show that Tan Chong revealed that the XV crossover sold in the country would get the EyeSight tech by the 2nd half of 2019. However, since the XV facelift model is not out yet, we are doubtful about the authenticity of the suggested timeline.
So, if you are interested in getting your hands on the Subaru XV with EyeSight tech, you’ll have to wait for some time as no information on its arrival is available. Stay tuned with Zigwheels for the latest information.
