A new Ford Mustang for GT3 racing coming up
KUALA LUMPUR: The world of GT3 racing is going to be all exciting, thanks to the stunning, powerful participants. It was only a while back when Toyota introduced its awe-striking GR GT3 Concept and now Ford has announced the arrival of an all-new Mustang GT3 along with a factory-backed IMSA GTD Pro works team. The latter is managed by a Canadian firm and project partner, Multimatic.
As per Ford Performance, automaker’s high-performance division known for its motorsport and racing activity, the Mustang GT3 will debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona, in 2024.
And guess what? The Mustang GT3 will be available as a customer car in 2024 itself! Great, right?
Though Ford hasn't spilled much information about the upcoming Mustang GT3, we know its power configuration. Powering the Ford racer is a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated Coyote-based V8 mill by M-Sport in the UK. Thus making it the loudest car in the segment.
The power is sent to the wheels via a rear-mounted transaxle transmission. Also, taking care of the suspension is double wishbone at the front and rear. The wide aero package is part of the deal too and includes carbon fibre body panels.
Ford Performance has confirmed that it will continue with the GT4 customer programme alongside the GT3 effort. The new Mustang GT4 is expected to make a debut in the 2023 season.
Are you excited about the Mustang GT3? We sure are.
