7 Interesting features of the 2022 Perodua Alza you should know
KUALA LUMPUR: The bookings of the second-gen Perodua Alza have recently commenced in Malaysia, and the enthusiasts are rushing to book the upgraded MPV before the SST exemption expires. So, to help the prospective buyers, here we bring seven interesting features of the upgraded Alza that they should know.
Chrome & glossy grille
While we have not seen the new Alza in full, the teasers gave us a pretty good idea of its upgraded styling. The MPV appears more sophisticated than its long-serving predecessor with a new chrome & glossy grille on the front, which is edged by restyled headlights.
Raised ground clearance
While listening to the customer's requests, the automaker worked on enhancing the driving experience of the MPV. It raised the car's ground clearance level from 133 mm to 160 mm, which is considered as the best height for a pleasant MPV drive in Malaysia.
Drive mode button
The latest Perodua Alza teaser showcased the new Drive mode button on the car's steering wheel. It will be available on the mid-spec H and top-spec AV variants and allow the driver to choose from three available drive modes - Eco, Normal, and Power. It will enable the powertrain mapping or may be steering weight as the vehicle underpins a passive suspension. It's the first Perodua car to have this feature.
Electronic Parking Brake
Another advanced feature you will get inside the new Alza is the electronic parking brake with an auto brake hold. It replaces the conventional parking brake, or we can say handbrake and allows you to avoid the vehicle's motion when parked by just pulling a button.
360-degree panoramic view monitor
The new Perodua Alza also comes equipped with a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, which is also a Perodua first. It provides complete visibility of the vehicle's surroundings and thus helps in easy manoeuvring and parking at tight spots.
D-CVT automatic gearbox
Powering the new Alza is a new EEV-rated 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine tied with the latest D-CVT automatic gearbox. The latter is the world's first split-gear CVT system that pairs the belt drive with a gear drive and offers improved fuel efficiency, acceleration feel, and quietness. It was globally introduced in 2019 and came to Malaysia with the Perodua Ativa last year. We can also find the same unit under the bonnet of the upgraded Myvi.
Best in its class fuel efficiency
With the new powertrain setup, the new Alza fuel consumption is rated at 22 kmpl (4.5 litres per 100 km) in MDC mode. Perodua claims that it is the best in the MPV segment.
Bookings of the new Perodua Alza are now underway at all authorised Perodua showrooms nationwide. It is on offer in three variants - X, H, and AV. The estimated pricing starts at RM 62,000 and goes all the way up to RM 75,000 (on-the-road, without insurance and pre-sales tax). Included in the price is a standard five-year or 150,000 km (whichever comes first) manufacturer's warranty.
