2024 Toyota Land Cruiser revealed; gets a boxy look, more tech, and hybrid power
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota’s off-road icon and longest-running nameplate, the Land Cruiser, has arrived in a new avatar in the US, Japan, and European markets. The SUV is known as the Land Cruiser 250 in Japan and Land Cruiser Prado in some countries.

Size-wise, the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is much larger than the previous-generation model. Figuratively, it measures 4,925 mm in length (+100 mm), 1,980 mm in width (+95 mm), and 1,870 mm in height (+20 mm). The wheelbase has also grown up to 2,850 mm (+60 mm).
In terms of design, the SUV features a boxy, angular shape with a raised hood, thin pillars, and strong wheel arches. The front end is kitted with a rectangular grille and circular headlamps reminiscent of the 70 Series.
Among the other key exterior highlights are skid plates (at both ends), square-themed mesh on front intakes, large side mirrors, black body cladding, roof rails, side steps, and 18-inch wheels (20-inch as optional) shod with all-season tyres.
Inside, Toyota has added a plethora of new features to raise the appeal of the new Land Cruiser. These include -

- Satellite navigation
- Leather upholstery with ventilation, heating, and power adjustment functions

In different markets, the new Toyota Land Cruiser will be offered with a range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, as well as hybrid for the first time. The latter is a new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain combining a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 48-hp electric motor generating a total output of 326 hp and 630 Nm. The mill comes paired with an eight-speed transmission feeding off a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack.
