2024 Toyota Corolla Cross facelift gets a debut date

KUALA LUMPUR: First unveiled in 2020, the Toyota Corolla Cross is up for a mid-cycle refresh in Thailand. The automaker has dropped a teaser video of the upgraded SUV on its official Thai website and social media handles. The clip not only gives clues about design enhancements but also discloses the debut date of the new Corolla Cross i.e. February 8, 2024.

The upcoming ASEAN-spec iteration of the SUV will feature the new full-LED headlights borrowed from the Japanese- and European-spec models. These are mated to a new, slimmer upper grille and eyebrow-style daytime running lights positioned slightly lower for the placement of sequential indicators.

While not previewed in the teaser video, redesigned bumpers and a fresh pair of wheels are also likely to be seen on the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross facelift.

The teaser also fails to drop any hint on the interior changes, however, we can expect a few important revisions with reference to the new Corolla Altis introduced last year. According to that, the upcoming Toyota SUV may get a fully digital instrument cluster, and other advanced features like wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless charger, and an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold.

Further, reports from Thai media suggest that the updated Corolla Cross might come equipped with a new 2.0-litre inline-4 naturally-aspirated Dynamic Force engine, replacing the ongoing 1.8-litre DOHC dual VVT-i mill. This anticipated engine is the one that powers the US-spec version of the SUV and makes 171 PS of maximum power and 203 Nm of peak torque. Compared to the existing unit, the output figures are up by 32 PS and 31 Nm.

Well, for the actual specifications, we need to wait for the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross debut, which is just a few days away.
