2024 Subaru Impreza revealed at the 2022 LA Auto Show
KUALA LUMPUR: After releasing a couple of teasers, Subaru has finally pulled the wraps off the all-new sixth-gen Impreza at the 2022 LA Auto Show currently underway in the US. With the generation update, the model is longer available in the sedan body style as the automaker opted to go ahead with the hatchback version only. Also, the manual gearbox has been ditched with automatic transmission as the only option available now.

The latter made a comeback with the 2024 model year after discontinuing in 2005.
Powering the Base and Sport variants is a 2.0-litre boxer four-cylinder generating a maximum power output of 152 hp and a peak torque of 197 Nm. The top-spec RS, on the other hand, takes energy from a 2.5-litre boxer four-cylinder mill delivering 182 hp and 241 Nm of torque.
According to the automaker, the next-gen Impreza is 10% stiffer than the predecessor thanks to the improved, symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. Also part of the updated kit is a sport-tuned suspension and bigger brakes, offering improved handling and precise control.
In terms of design, the revamped hatchback looks sportier with a slightly bigger grille on the front flanked by the new, sharper headlights. The rear fascia is dominated by the new fork-shaped tail lights teamed up with exhaust pipes. Differentiating the RS trim in the mix are LED headlights and foglights, 18-inch dark grey alloy wheels, and a dark grey finishing on the grille, mirror caps, and side sills.
