2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness breaks cover at the New York International Auto Show

KUALA LUMPUR: Subaru has pulled the wraps off the most rugged and trail-capable Crosstrek ever at the New York International Auto Show. Dubbed as the Crosstrek Wilderness, the latest model is the third model in the Subaru Wilderness lineup, following the Outback Wilderness and the Forester Wilderness. Just like its siblings, the special Crosstrek is also exclusive to the North American market.

Let’s get to know the exclusive highlights of the all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness -

• The car features unique styling with a bold hexagonal front grille, revamped bumpers, bigger wheel arch cladding, and distinctive hex-design LED fog lights
• Complementing the SUV’s rugged look are black side mirrors and a body-colour roof spoiler
• A new exterior paint added to the colour palette is Geyser Blue which is also offered with other Wilderness models
• It also comes with a ladder-type roof rail, offering flexibility to carry a wide variety of accessories

• The Crosstrek Wilderness is equipped with a 2.5L direct-injection Subaru BOXER engine that delivers a maximum power of 182 hp and a peak torque of 176 lb-ft
• For better off-road performance, Subaru engineers have tweaked the setup with the installation of a revised differential gear ratio and re-tuned Lineartronic CVT. The enhanced final drive ratio provides an improved climbing ability while the new tuning for the CVT optimises traction at low speeds and on slippery surfaces
• The towing capacity of the SUV also doubled with the addition of a transmission oil cooler

• As for the suspension, the latest Crosstrek comes with exclusive components and 9.3-inch ground clearance (more than a half-inch higher as compared to the other Crosstrek version)
• It also comes with Subaru’s driver-selectable dual-function X-MODE offering Snow / Dirt and Deep Snow / Mud modes
• Among the key interior features are Subaru STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system mated to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charger, and exclusive ‘Wilderness’ badging 

• Part of the SUV’s advanced safety pack are Automatic Emergency Steering, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control; Pre-Collision Braking; Pre-Collision Throttle Management; Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

The production of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness will soon begin at the brand’s Indiana Automotive facility with deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter of the year.
